Vinta Diwata

In this experimental fashion film inspired by the modern Filipiñiana label Vinta Gallery, feminine spirits mirror their ancestors in a garden beyond time.

I wrote and directed this piece while in the process of understanding my mixed Filipino/ European ancestry. I’m still learning how to embrace the history written within my blood; a history of violence, conquest, and somehow, love.

“Kung ang kasaysayan ay mauulit,

Ang kabutihan ang ating idiit.

Isayaw natin ang kagandahan,

Tuloyang lisanin ang kadiliman.

Biyaya niya'y hiwalay sa pagdurusa

Sa paghihinagpis siya nakawala.”
